Cousins Visit

Saturday night our cousins Marv, Sharna & Bryant and Karen & Gregory came over for dinner. Eric definitely stole the show by being VERY well behaved. We had a really nice time sharing stories and watching Eric play.

Las Madres Family Picnic

Our playgroup had a family picnic at Emma Prusch Farm Park (in San Jose) on Saturday. It was a nice day -- especially in the shade. Families ate lunch on blankets and watched the little ones (most of them) romp around in the grass. After lunch we headed across the field to check out the barn and various farm animals.

Eric's First Haircut

On Saturday, June 17, we took Eric to Lollipop Cuts for his first haircut. The place is very kid-centered. Each station is a different type of car and they have toys galore. We made an appointment for 11:30 but when we showed up it was clear appointments weren't needed and definitely not considered. After about twenty minutes or so of waiting we finally chose a cool light blue car for Eric (it was the only available car with a seatbelt). Things started well but after about five minutes Eric decided he wasn't too keen on the fact that a stranger was poking and prodding his head. From then on we broke out a variety of entertainment tools to distract him -- everything from popping dinosaurs to bubbles. Cheerios actually worked best and managed to keep him busy for the majority of time -- nothing like hairy Cheerios. Yum! We were sent off with a small envelope of hair and a very well manicured boy.

Noah's Graduation Party

Yesterday we headed out to Santa Cruz (actually Soquel) to help cousin Noah celebrate his high school graduation. We enjoyed hanging out in the beautiful weather and eating delicious food. Eric seemed to eat for an hour straight(everything from chicken to watermelon) -- the kid must have more than one stomach because he was packing it away somewhere!

"Put your hands in the air!"

Eric is such a little person now. It's amazing to think that just a few months ago he showed no indication of understanding what we said and had little control of his arms and legs. Now he'll put his arms above his head, clap his hands and shake his head on command. Yes, we do realize he's not a dog, but it's so fun for us to have Eric show off his new tricks. The tiny blob that we brought home from the hospital is a real, live kid! (Check out that pre-brushing mop of hair.)
