Nvidia Family Day

Every summer Nvidia throws a fair/carnival family day, so on Friday Eric and I met Jason at work and spent the afternoon enjoying the festivities. Eric sampled all sorts of foods -- walking taco, brisket sandwich, chicken wrap -- and participated in a "Catch the Butterfly" carnival game. He also played with rings from a ring toss game, dug for buried treasures in the sandbox and watched remote control boats and cars. Lots of fun!

Palo Alto Junior Museum & Zoo

We visited the PA Junior Museum & Zoo for the very first time on Tuesday. It's a great facility with many hands-on exhibits for young children and a small zoo with various animals outside. Eric loved playing in the house, in particular with the knobs on the stove, and is ready to give Emeril a run for his money. He also especially enjoyed pulling out large, clear round pegs from one of the cool light/color exhibits (think: large Lite Brite). Many of the exhibits focused on motion and Eric tracked balls all over the place -- up and down ramps, into holes and along tracks. We're definitely planning another visit some time soon!

An amazing eater

Eric is quite the eater these days. It's hard to believe that six months ago he could barely manage to swallow a spoonful of rice cereal. Now he's a pro at eating despite the fact that he has only four teeth and just the tiny nub of a fifth. Since a friend mentioned that her son ate a whole plum (minus the pit) all by himself, I decided to give it a try with Eric. So I gave him a nectarine. Not surprising, just like his friend, he managed to eat the whole thing all by himself. With juice dripping down his arms, he simply inhaled the thing. Probably would have eaten the pit too, if I hadn't intervened.

More Family Visits & A Party

Saturday night Grandma Caryn, Grandpa Glen, Great-Grandma Shirley & Great-Grandpa Harry arrived and we all went out to dinner at Sonoma Chicken Coop. On Sunday we celebrated Eric's first birthday at John D. Morgan in Campbell. Surrounded by family and friends, with balloons flying and the sun shining, Eric ate cake for the first time!

Family Visits

Uncle Adam, Grandma Sharon & Grandpa Harley came into town last Thursday in order to celebrate Eric's first birthday on Sunday. We mainly spent time catching up and hanging out since Eric takes a morning and afternoon nap. It was especially great to see Adam because it was nine months ago when he visited last! Here Adam is showing Eric his blog -- costaricajones.com.
